How to put the Aadhaar front and back on one page

Make the two photos one PDF with Images to PDF, then use Pages per sheet with 2 pages on each sheet to put both sides on a single A4 page.

Images to PDFFree. Nothing is uploaded.

How to do it

  1. Open Images to PDF and add the front photo, then the back.
  2. Choose Same as each image for the page size and press Make a PDF.
  3. Tap Then on the result and choose Pages per sheet.
  4. Pick 2 pages on each sheet and A4, and press Lay it out.
  5. Save the one-page PDF, or compress it if a portal has a size limit.

One PDF, or one page?

Many forms just want both sides in one file. Images to PDF alone does that: two pages, front then back. When the form says one page, or you want to print both sides on one sheet, Pages per sheet puts the two pages on one A4 sheet, turned whichever way shows them biggest: two wide card photos go one above the other on an upright sheet, like a photocopy of both sides.

Better photos, smaller files

Photograph the card flat, in good light, with no flash glare across the number. Scan finds the card’s edges in each photo, straightens it and cleans it up, which gives a neater result than a raw photo. A portal’s size limit is easy to meet afterwards with Compress.

If you have the e-Aadhaar PDF

The e-Aadhaar downloaded from UIDAI already has the front and back of the card at the bottom of its page. You may not need photos at all. Its password is explained in Aadhaar PDF password.

If the copy is going to someone who does not need your full number, hide it first: see how to hide the Aadhaar number.

A worked example

Your bank wants a self-attested copy of your Aadhaar, front and back on one A4 sheet. Photograph both sides on a dark table. Open Scan, add the two photos, check the corners, choose Colour or Grey and As photographed, and press Make the PDF. Tap Then, choose Pages per sheet, pick 2 per sheet and A4, and press Lay it out. Print it, sign across it, and you have the copy they asked for.

What offices usually expect

Most offices want both sides legible, the photo clear, and nothing cut off at the edges. Many ask for a self-attested copy, meaning you sign the printed copy yourself, often with the date and a line saying what it is for. If the copy goes by email instead, a light watermark stating its purpose does a similar job. Check the office’s own instructions first, since some have their own format.

Common mistakes

Flash glare across the number, a thumb over a corner, and a photo taken at a steep angle are the usual reasons a copy is refused. Hold the phone directly above the card, use daylight, and let the card fill most of the frame. If a photo comes out on its side, Scan and Images to PDF both turn it upright from the phone’s own record of which way it was held.

Questions people ask

Are my Aadhaar photos uploaded?

No. The PDF is made in your browser and the photos never leave your device.

My iPhone photos will not open. Why?

Some browsers cannot read iPhone HEIC photos. Share them as JPEG, or set Settings, Camera, Formats to Most Compatible, and add them again.

Will they go side by side or one above the other?

Whichever shows them bigger. Wide card photos go one above the other on an upright sheet; upright pages go side by side on a sideways one.

Can I do the same for a PAN card or driving licence?

Yes. The same steps work for any two-sided card.

Should the copy be in colour?

Colour shows the photo and any hologram best, and many offices prefer it; grey prints cheaper and is often accepted. Check what the office asks for.

Your file stays on your device. Foolscap does the work inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded and there is nothing for anyone to keep. How you can check
