About Scan a document
Photograph pages and get a PDF that looks scanned: each sheet is found in its photo, straightened, cropped and cleaned up. Drag the round handles if a corner is off. Choose colour, grey, or black and white, which survives a shadow and usually makes the smallest file.
How to use it
- Take a photo of each page, or choose photos you already took.
- Check that the round handles sit on the paper’s corners, and drag any that do not.
- Turn any page that is the wrong way up with its turn button.
- Choose Colour, Grey or Black and white, and A4, Letter or As photographed.
- Press Make the PDF, then Save it or tap Share.
Good to know
For the best scan, lay the paper on a darker surface so its edges stand out, hold the phone straight above it, and use daylight rather than the flash, which leaves a bright patch. Each photo is worked on at about 250 dots per inch for an A4 page, sharp enough to read small print and to print again.
Black and white makes the paper white and the writing crisp, and is the best choice for letters, forms and printed pages. Grey keeps photos and pencil marks readable. Colour keeps stamps, signatures in blue ink and coloured forms as they are, at the cost of a bigger file.
Every photo becomes one page, in the order listed. The photos are straightened and cleaned in your browser and never sent anywhere, which matters for an ID card or a medical report. To search or copy the words afterwards, take the PDF to Make searchable.
