Split
Break one PDF into several smaller files. Nothing is uploaded: the work happens on this device.
About Split
Split breaks one PDF into several: every few pages, one page per file, by the ranges you type, or at each chapter bookmark. Each part is a new file; the original stays whole. Save all saves the parts as a folder or one ZIP.
How to use it
- Add the PDF you want to break up, typing its password if it has one.
- Choose Every few pages, One page per file, By page ranges or At each chapter.
- Type how many pages go in each part, or the ranges, if your choice needs them.
- Press Split it up, then Save each part or use Save all.
Good to know
Parts are named so they sort in order: “part 1 of 4” for even splits, the page numbers for ranges, and the bookmark’s own title when you split at chapters. Pages that come before the first bookmark become a part called Opening pages, so nothing is dropped along the way.
Each range you type becomes its own file, in the order you typed it, and ranges may overlap: 1-5, 3-8 gives two files that share pages 3 to 5. If your choice would put every page into one file, the tool says so instead of making a copy of the original.
A locked PDF gives locked parts, each opening with the same password as the original. If the people receiving them should not need it, unlock the original first with Remove a password, then split the unlocked copy.
Questions people ask
How do I type ranges?
Separate them with commas: 1-3, 4-9, 10-. A range ending in a dash runs to the last page.
What if I need parts under a size in MB?
Use Split by size, which works the parts out for you.
Why can it not split at chapters?
That needs bookmarks. Add them with Bookmarks, or split by ranges.
Can I split several PDFs in one go?
No, one at a time. Split works on a single PDF; when it is done, tap Start over and add the next.
