How to insert pages into a PDF, or replace a page
Open Insert pages, add the main PDF first and then the pages to put in, choose After a page or In place of pages, and press Insert them. The main file’s other pages stay exactly as they were.
Insert pagesFree. Nothing is uploaded.
How to do it
- Open Insert pages and add the main PDF first: the one that gets the new pages.
- Add the PDF to put into it, or choose Blank pages and say how many.
- Choose After a page and type its number, or In place of pages and type the pages to swap out.
- Press Insert them.
- Check the page count in the result line, then save the new file.
Insert, merge or replace?
Merge puts whole files end to end. Insert pages puts pages into the middle of one: an annexure after page 12, a signed page in place of an unsigned one, a blank page for notes. The first file in the list always receives the pages, and every file after it goes in whole, one after another, at the place you chose. If you need only part of another PDF, cut it down first with Extract or remove pages.
Replacing a page
Choose In place of pages and type the page to swap out, such as 7, or a range such as 7-8. Those pages come out, and the new ones go in where the first of them was. The numbers need not match: one corrected page can replace two, or three new pages one old one. The result line says which pages were replaced and how many the file has now, a quick check that you typed the right number.
Page numbers here are positions in the file, counting the first page as 1. If the document has a cover or a contents page without numbers, the number printed on a page may differ from its position.
A corrected page in a signed document
A common case: an agreement has gone round for signatures and one page needs a correction, or one party signed a page on paper and sent back a photo of it. Swapping the page is easy, but it changes what was signed. Do it only when everyone who signed agrees, and have them initial or sign the new page too. If the document carries a digital signature, any change, a swapped page included, shows as a change after signing, so replace pages before anyone signs digitally, not after.
For a page signed on paper, photograph it with Scan in Black and white or Grey, then add that PDF here as the second file and choose In place of pages.
Blank pages
Blank pages, from 1 to 500 at a time, take the size and direction of the page just before them, so a blank page in a landscape section is landscape too. They give room for handwritten notes or a signature, or keep double-sided printing in step so that each chapter starts on the front of a sheet. Type 0 in After a page to put pages in before the first one.
A worked example
Sanjay’s 18-page rental agreement is ready, but the owner wants a two-page furniture inventory added after page 12, and page 3 has the wrong deposit amount. He opens Insert pages, adds the agreement first and the inventory second, chooses After a page, types 12 and presses Insert them: the result line says 2 pages added after page 12, 20 in all. He taps Then, chooses Insert pages again, adds the corrected page 3 as the second file, chooses In place of pages, types 3 and presses Insert them. Both of them then sign the finished 20 pages.
Bookmarks, passwords and order
The main file’s bookmarks, page labels and details are kept, and the inserted file’s own bookmarks come along. If the main file was locked, the new file is locked with the same password; type each locked file’s password in the box under it and tap Unlock first. To change the order of pages afterwards, or turn one the right way up, use Organise pages.

No. The new file is put together in your browser, on your device, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Can I insert a photo as a page?
Make it a PDF first with Images to PDF or Scan, then insert that.
Does it change my original?
No. You get a new file; the PDFs you picked are never changed.
