Text that reflows on a phone or e-reader. Nothing is uploaded: the work happens on this device.
About PDF to EPUB or web page
Turns a PDF into an EPUB e-book, or one web page, whose text reflows to fit a phone or e-reader screen, with its photos. Chapters start at each main heading. Page layout gives way to flowing text, so it suits books and reports better than forms or slides.
How to use it
- Add the PDF, or several.
- Choose EPUB e-book, or A web page for a single .html file.
- If the pages are scans, choose Editable words under Scanned pages to get their text; otherwise they come in as pictures.
- Press Make the e-book, then open the file in your reading app or browser.
Good to know
The book is cut into chapters at its main headings, or at its sections when the only main heading is the title, and a contents list is built from them, so a reading app can jump straight to a chapter. Page breaks, page numbers and running headers are dropped, so the text runs on from one printed page to the next as one continuous read, with the photos in their places.
It works best on documents that are mostly running text: novels, reports, notes and manuals. Forms, slides, wide tables and anything laid out in boxes lose their shape once the text is set free, and are better read as PDFs in Read.
A web page is one .html file that opens in any browser with no app. It suits sending a long document to someone on a phone, or reading with a screen reader, because the words come in order and wrap to the screen. Save it and it opens again later with no connection at all.
Questions people ask
Does it work with Kindle?
Amazon’s Send to Kindle accepts EPUB files.
Can it convert a scanned book?
Choose Editable words under Scanned pages. Reading a scan is slower and works best on clean, straight pages.
Which apps open the EPUB?
Apple Books, Google Play Books and most e-book apps open it directly.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The e-book is put together in your browser, and the PDF never leaves your device.
