About Add text

Tap a page and type: a name on a blank line, a date beside a signature, a note on a form with no fields. Tap the words again to change them, or drag to move them. Malayalam, Hindi and other scripts go in as a picture of the words, drawn by your browser, until real text in those scripts arrives.

How to use it

  1. Add the PDF, typing its password if it asks.
  2. Type what to write in the box: a name, a date or an answer.
  3. Choose Small, Medium or Large, and black, blue or red.
  4. Tap the page where the words go, then drag them into place.
  5. Press Write it on and save the new copy.

Good to know

Add text is for forms that are only printed pages: a blank line for your name, a box for a date, a space marked Office use. On a phone, zoom in before placing small words, and sit them just above the printed line rather than on it. Put as many pieces of text as you need on any page.

English letters and numbers go in as real text, which can be selected and searched. Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and other scripts are drawn by your browser and placed as a picture of the words, so they look right but cannot be selected or searched yet.

The words become part of the page when you save. If the PDF has real fields, Fill in a form is neater and keeps answers editable; to change words that are already printed, use Edit text.

Questions people ask

Can I fill in a form with this?

Yes, if it has no fields. If it does, Fill in a form is quicker.

Can I write in Malayalam?

Yes. The words show correctly, as a picture, so they cannot be selected or searched yet.

Can I change the words after placing them?

Yes, until you save: tap them to change them, or drag to move them. After saving, start again from your original.
